JOYCE
SLAYTON MITCHELL is a Vermonter who
moved to New York City when her children left home. A writer, she is the author of more
than thirty works of nonfiction. Among them are many books about decision-making
for young
adults in the field of college and career, including
I Can Be Anything: Careers for
Young Women; College to Career:
The Guide to Career Planning; and Taking on the
World: Empowering Strategies for Parents of Children with Disabilities. She is also
the author of Bible Express: The Fast Track to Old and New Testaments; Winning
the
Chemo Battle; and several children's books.

ELIZABETH DIX MITCHELL began school in the bush of Papua New Guinea by
correspondence and radio from Sydney, Australia. Returning to America, she enrolled in the
Vermont public schools until she left home to for the Williston
Northampton School in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Elizabeth attended Pitzer
College near Los Angeles for two years before moving to the Northwest. She finished her degree at Evergreen College in Olympia,
Washington. Extending her lifestyle westward, Elizabeth and several friends bought
one-year exploration air tickets to the Pacific. A Special Delivery begins during
this adventure, when Elizabeth fell in love in New Zealand.
